Cold Laser Therapy
What is cold laser therapy
Cold lasers are low-power lasers that are used for photobiomodulation (red light) therapy. The laser penetrates deep into the cell and stimulates the mitochondria to create more activity in the cells, increasing blood flow, and speeding up cellular processes to promote healing to the area.
Different wavelengths of low-level light are applied directly to a targeted area. The body tissue then absorbs the light. The red light causes a reaction, and the damaged cells respond with a physiological feedback that promotes regeneration.
How can cold laser therapy help
Cold laser therapy can provide rapid relief from a wide variety of conditions and injuries, including, but not limited to:
ligament sprains
tennis elbow
muscle strains
tendonitis
bursitis
neck pain
lower back pain
shoulder pain
knee pain
fibromyalgia
inflammation
decrease scar tissue
It’s also used to help reduce swelling and promote healing of the joints and soft tissue.
Laser needle acupuncture can replace traditional needle acupuncture without the discomfort. The low-level laser beams can stimulate your acupoints the same way needles do, but without piercing your skin.
What to expect during your cold laser treatment
Treatment times are usually short, seven to ten minutes. Treatment causes no pain, there are no side effects, and relief is often felt after the first session. Underlying issues can be effectively treated with three to six sessions.
You may feel the laser device touching your skin. There will be no sound and you’ll feel no vibration or heat.
For chronic conditions, these effects can be long lasting for sometimes months and even years as a result of improved tissue healing.
